As with previous meetings in the PICO 20XX series of conferences, the Sixth Conference on Frontiers of Aberration Corrected Electron Microscopy – PICO 2021 – again addressed recent advances in methods and applications for the study of solids in condensed matter research and the life sciences by the application of advanced electron microscopy techniques.

Due to the continued uncertainty surrounding the present pandemic situation, PICO 2021 was held as a fully virtual event. The organizers have not taken the decision lightly, but the health of participants, partners and teams is of paramount importance.
