Oral Presentations

All oral presentations will be invited while submitted contributions will be considered for the poster session. In addition, all Junior Scientists (students and postdocs during the first three years after receiving their PhD) presenting a poster can apply for a Pitch Presentation*. If you are chosen, you will get the chance to give a sneak peak to your work on Tuesday.

*Young Scientist Pitches

Young Scientist Pitches are 3 min oral presentations without questions where max. 1 slide is shown. All Junior Scientists (students and postdocs during the first three years after receiving their PhD) can apply to give a sneak peak to their work on Tuesday. If you are eligible and interested, please indicate this in the registration form. Our selection committee will inform you whether you were chosen within 4 weeks after abstract submission has closed.

Panel Discussion

Addressing gender bias is crucial for fostering an inclusive environment. Hence, experiences and strategies for overcoming gender bias in academia and research are shared through a moderated discussion of a diverse panel of women in electron microscopy.

Poster Session

The poster session is scheduled for Tuesday evening and open for all participants. If you are interested in presenting your work, please submit an abstract using our template until December 8th, 2026.
If your contribution was accepted, please bring your printed poster to the event. We recommend DIN A0 portrait size.

Lab Tour

As another highlight, we will show our high-end instruments on Tuesday afternoon. If you are interested, you can indicate this in the registration form. Seats are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. A campus tour will be offered in parallel as an alternative.

Campus Tour

As an alternative to the lab tour, a campus tour will be offered. There, we will introduce the Research Centre in general and provide exclusive insights into the Ernst-Ruska Centre and its facilities. As a bonus, we will also visit a second (surprise) institute on the campus. If you are interested, you can indicate this in your registration form.

Career Pathways Workshop

During our Career Pathways Workshop on Wednesday Afternoon you will get the chance to get in touch with peers, mentors and industry representatives to discuss a variety of topics:

  • Pathways in industry – A female perspective: here you can get in touch with industrial partners
  • Scientific Mentoring: receive advice from high-level scientists in the field
