Women in Electron Microscopy (WeM) is a landmark initiative, aiming to foster a supportive and inclusive community for women in microscopy. By addressing unique challenges, providing networking opportunities, and highlighting role models, the event contributes to a more diverse and innovative field.
In many scientific fields women are still underrepresented, including electron microscopy. This event provides a platform to increase visibility and representation of women in the field, encouraging more participation and retention. By creating a space for women to connect with peers and potential mentors we want to foster professional relationships and collaborations that might not occur in traditional conferences.
Women in science often face unique challenges, including gender bias and work-life balance issues. This event addresses these challenges through targeted discussions and workshops. By highlighting the achievements of women in electron microscopy we want to inspire attendees to aspire to leadership positions and take on more significant roles within their organizations and the field at large.
Importantly, WeM is not only for women. Men are warmly welcomed to participate as colleagues, collaborators, and allies. Their involvement strengthens the dialogue, broadens perspectives, and helps build a culture of equity and inclusion that benefits the entire scientific community.
By bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds and specializations, WeM sparks new ideas, perspectives, and collaborations—driving innovation in electron microscopy.
