PICO2026 \u2013 the ninth conference on frontiers of aberration corrected electron microscopy – will be held at <\/span>Kasteel Vaalsbroek<\/a><\/span> <\/span>in the Netherlands. The property is located at the bordering point of The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium and offers modern, technologically advanced meeting space, inside an authentically restored, 600 year old castle.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It<\/span> has become the traditional venue for our conference as it combines the splendor of the past with the comfort and technology of the present, tastefully weaving them into a picturesque setting that presents irresistible charm.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The centrepiece of the 130-room hotel is the 14th century Kasteel Vaalsbroek. The hotel features luxurious, spacious guest rooms, junior suites and suites, all tastefully appointed and offering guests views of the surrounding hills of Limburg. With 19 different meeting rooms for up to 350 people, the recently expanded hotel wing features meeting rooms with built-in data projectors and air conditioning.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Continental and Full English Breakfast as well as Classic Dutch Lunch and Dinner cuisine are served. Private dining is available in truly unique areas of the castle from the cellar to one of the paneled dining rooms overlooking the garden. During the breaks a modern wellness area with pool, sauna and gym invites for a timeout.<\/span><\/span>

Aachen, Maastricht and Luik are all within reach in 30 minutes or less. The nearby city of Maastricht is regarded as the oldest and most beautiful Dutch city. First established by the Romans around 50 BC, Maastricht is filled with historic sites and a cast assortment of charming pubs, museums, fashionable boutiques and romantic cobble-stoned streets. A stone’s throw away is the German city of Aachen with its rich imperial history. Aachen Cathedral and the Town Hall are just two of the many interesting attractions of this city. Closer to Kasteel Vaalsbroek, you can enjoy a leisurely bike ride through the towns and villages that dot the countryside which is rich in history <\/span>and<\/span><\/span> charm.<\/span>

Since one of the ambitions of PICO2026 is to bring all participants together in the very special atmosphere of Kasteel Vaalsbroek, room reservations have to be made directly along with the<\/span>

Kasteel Vaalsbroek is about 8 km to the west of the city of Aachen. In the majority of cases arriving and departing at D\u00fcsseldorf airport will be the most convenient choice. From there, it is recommended traveling to Aachen Hauptbahnhof (main station) by train as this usually does not require change of trains. As bus connections are not ideal, it is recommended traveling the last 8 km from the Aachen main station to Kasteel Vaalsbroek by taxi.<\/p>\n
